Saurer announced that it has acquired 100% of the Italian-based Fincarde Group at end of December 2005. Fincarde will be integrated in the nonwovens technology platform of the Saurer business unit Neumag. This was announced just before the new year begins. With the technologies from Fincarde, Autefa and Fehrer, total solutions from the bale opening via the carding, the cross lapper, the needling, up to the ready nonwovens product, can be offered under the brand Neumag in the future. Fincarde was established in 2002 through the merger of Octir and FOR, offering a wide spectrum of machine types from the entire fiber preparation process, carding for woolen and worsted processes and carded non wovens. | 2+2' and the 'Injection Card', the company produces two patented high-capacity carding machines for the non woven industry.
In comparison to the traditional carding procedures, these machines have advantages during the production of thermo bonded, needled or hydroentangled non wovens. The company is based in Biella, Italy, and has a turnover of approximately 13 million euros. Furthermore, Saurer has increased its stake in Autefa automation GmbH from 51% to 60% and thus intensifies its engagement in the business sectors of the company resident in Friedberg, Germany. Autefa is one of the worldwide leading manufacturers of packing systems and automation solutions for fiber production and processing and is considered as technologically leading in the web forming sector.
