China and Burma has join hands for co-operation in the textile sector. First joint production facility began production in Yangon, on 25th November. The factory is located in Salingyi township in Sagaing division. It was built by the China National Constructional and Agricultural Machinery Import and Export Corporation under a contract signed between the

Myanmar Ministry of Industry-1 and the Chinese company in June 2001. The factory, has capacity of 29,760 spindles and 828 automatic shuttle looms to produces 1,705 tons of cotton yarn and 10.37 million meters of cotton fabrics annually. The Myanmar Prime Minister, General Soe Win, and Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Guan Mu, were present at the function along with other ministers and several Chinese experts.
