Glenoit IIG Corp. contracted with Tarboro textiles to run Glenoit's former Tarboro plant that was closed last year, the Carolinas Gateway Partnership announced few days ago. Former textile employees will be hired to work at their old plant under a contract with a new firm, officials said. The partnership President Mr. John Gessaman said, Tarboro textiles is a new production company run by former Glenoit employee Jerry Howard.

| The announcement said 62 people will be hired initially and the company plans to hire a total of 140 by March. Mr. Howard said, “All of us involved in Tarboro textiles are committed to the product we produce, its quality and our ability to sell the product. All of the workers are experienced former longtime Glenoit employees who live in Edgecombe, Nash, Wilson and Halifax counties, and who have been involved in the manufacturing and production of sliver knits for more than 15 years.”
