The bankrupt textile giant Pillowtex Corp. will make one last paycheck to thousands of laid-off workers as per an agreement with creditors, a union official said. | three-year battle by workers to get some money they believed the bankrupt company owed them. "Obviously, I'm happy that these workers who desperately need this money will get something," Raynor said. When Pillowtex went out of business, it eliminated 7,650 jobs, including about 4,800 in the Kannapolis area. It was the largest mass layoff of workers in the state's history. The settlement will cost Pillowtex about $13.5 million, Raynor said.
