Bangladesh Apparel and Textile Exposition (BATEXPO), the three-day garment exhibition, begun today in Dhaka. Prime Minister Khaleda Zia inaugurated this event, which is regarded as the biggest garment expo in the country. Organised by the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), BATEXPO is expected to woo a large number of foreign buyers.
It is interesting to note that this is the only international apparel and textile show in the country that aims at interaction between foreign buyers and heads of trade bodies. Latest developments in quality and fashions, along with the country’s textile products, readymade garments,

| accessories and machineries would feature at the fair.
As many as 66 organisations (including the members of BGMEA), are said to be participating in the event. Additionally, participation from foreign and local accessories and fabric suppliers, service organisations, engineering and computer design and pattern organisations, etc are also listed in BATEXPO.
Four seminars, touching upon different issues related to the garment industry and its upcoming challenges, will be run parallel to the fair. Renowned speakers from the industry would address these issues. Furthermore, a cultural show and a fashion show would also be a part of BATEXPO.
The fair will continue until October 8 and remain open to all from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm everyday.
