Traders who were waiting to reopen the sealed China Town Shopping Complex, Ojota, Lagos were disappointed on Tuesday when Customs resumed evacuation of textile materials from the complex. Mr. T. J. Sambo, who led men of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), said the materials, worth about N100 million, were being moved to a warehouse somewhere in Lagos. | closed since last November would be opened on Monday.
A combined team of Customs and the police took strategic positions at the complex, while about four trailers were driven in for the evacuation. Mr. Sambo told journalists that the evacuation of inferior textile materials started since December last year. He said his men were particular about prohibited items such as inferior clothing materials found at the complex. He disclosed that already, one warehouse had filled up, while another one had been opened.
