Statistics reveal that textile and apparel exports to the US have posted impressive figures. In February 2006, Vietnamese textiles exports are expected to cross US $ 430 million mark and also grow with the passage of time, confident industry sources said. Industry insiders say this is largely due to that application of auto visa granting textile exports and elimination of export quota to the EU market. Quota - controlled categories among them accounted for $ 152 million in exports, a clear 60 percent rise as compared to January 2005. In 2005, the total textile and garment export turnover stood at $ 4.84 billion, at 10.4 percent growth rate, of which 5.2 percent increase was recorded for US market, 17.33 percent from EU market and 65.71 percent from the emerging Canadian market, statistics indicated. Notably, exports to the US and the EU markets during year-end months usually record most remarkable growth, it is said in case of Vietnam.
