In a recent meeting between the EU and the Nepali officials, Nepal has reportedly requested the EU to renew the General System of Preference (GSP) facility, which permits the entry of Nepalese textiles into the EUropean markets. Along with the renewal of this seven-year provision, the Nepali officials have also urged the EU to take a similar action in

case of the Agreement on Textile Products - an agreement that is due to expire in December this year. Accordingly, in response to Nepal’s requests that were made with a view to enhance its presently negligible exports to the EU countries, EU officials have decided to send a delegation to the country next month. This delegation will hold discussions with the various stakeholders about the bilateral assistance.
