New textile joint venture was founded in Kurgantepa district of Andijan region, an Uzbek newspaper reported on 24 June. Norodnoye Slovo, state owned daily, reported that the venture was founded with the coming together of Swiss Rieter and the local Samo joint

| stock company. The company will specialize in production of cotton yarn and fabrics.
The project’s total cost is 4.5 million euros and its capacity is 15 tonnes of yarn per day. The venture will start operation on the eve of the Independence Day of Uzbekistan (1st September) and all production will go to export.
