Mohawk industries, Inc. and Dupont have recently announced an exclusive partnership to launch a new line of residential carpet to the flooring industry. DuPont will be providing its latest polymer technology to Mohawk who will market it under the brand SmartStrand and Dupont Sarona polymer under the terms of agreement, which were not disclosed.

For the first time Mohawk is able to provide the durability of high performance fibers with stain resistance engineered into the fibers to never wear or wash off through repeated cleaning through SmartStrand. SmartStrand is naturally stain resistant as acid dye receptor sites are absent to allow attraction of many stains. Smart Strand stains made with Sarona will not allow stains to be permanently attached to the fiber at the molecular level. New levels of protection have been achieved through the built-in stain resistance system, allowing tough stains like mustard, red wine and cherry Kool-Aid to be removed with ease with warm water and mild detergent or with Mohawk FloorCare essentials.
