The South India Textile Research Association (SITRA) has developed 'SITRA PCRA Climo Control, an energy control system for humidification plants which could save 25 to 60 per cent of power costs. Presenting a paper on the system developed by them during the association's 30th technological conference held recently, SITRA employees R Prakasha,H Balasubramanian and G Ilango said on an average humidification plants consumed nearly 15 to 20 per cent of the total

The investment on the three-module system varied between Rs three to five lakh per humidification plant depending on the size and quantum of air delivered. The payback period at the prevailing power cost of Rs 4.3 per unit was 18 months, the paper said.
