Malden Mills proudly announced the obtaining of the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Certification and that the latest styles will be tested for approval on a rolling basis. The Oeko-Tex Standard 100 guarantees that the textile is free of any harmful substances or poses any threat to human health. The non-lenient Certification includes added applications such as durable water repellents, anti-microbial treatments and wicking agents as well as the original yarn fibers.

Malden Mills Product Marketing Manager, Karen Beattie stated, "We felt it was important for Malden Mills to participate in the Oeko-Tex Certification process to support a uniform safety standard on harmful substances in textiles. We are very proud to meet and exceed their requirements.

We have always been confident in the safety and quality of Polartec fabrics and feel it is important to have an independent standard by which all clothing manufacturers and consumers can measure the safety of their products."

Founded by the Vienna-based Austrian Textile Research Institute and the German Hohenstein Research Institute, The Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is an initiative by independent textile test institutes. Random continuous tests are carried out to insure compliance.

Malden mills Industries, Inc. was founded in 1906 in Lawrence, Ma and revolutionised winter wear during the early 80’s and went on to be known as the world leader in performance textiles. Polartec fabrics are used extensively by all branches of the United States military including the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Special Operations Forces.
