The Minister was optimistic of exporting more textile products in the future and hopeful of earning more foreign exchange from this sector. Replying to the demands of textile industry to lower bank interest rate to 7.0 % from current 12-14 % and to get 25 % cash incentive, the Minister assured the businessmen of considering the issue positively after discussing this with the finance ministry and concerned authorities. Earlier, the Chairman of Asian textile Mills Ltd. also spoke on the occasion and placed the above demands before the Commerce Minister for considering the issues seriously. Asian textile Mills Ltd. won the first prize for excellence from DITF for six consecutive years.
